Amazon is now offering some notable price drops on the Crucial portable solid-state drives starting with the  the Crucial X9 1TB Portable SSD at $72.99 shipped. Today’s deal clocks in at a few bucks under our last mention and the previous 2024 all-time low for one of the lowest prices you’ll find on a portable SSD with these specs from a notable brand. For further comparison, it is now a few bucks under the price of the much older and slower Crucial X6 1TB Portable SSD. Best portable SSDs of the year: Samsung, OWC, Crucial, WD, and more

2023 From $60

We are now rounding up all of our favorite on-the-go storage options in our 2023 collection of the best portable SSDs. While we didn’t see a ton of big-time standout new releases in 2023, there have been some next-generation releases from major brands worth consideration. Something like the new Samsung T5 Evo with up to 8TB capacities is going to be far less universally appealing to most folks, but its new T9 and mainstay T7 series is quite the opposite, much like the new X9 and X10 Pro models from Crucial. This year has also seen some unfortunate controversy in the portable SSD space with some issues arising among the formerly quite popular SanDisk Extreme lineup – my units work just fine, but there have been a ton of failures reported across the interwebs – however there are plenty of reliable solutions out there and we are breaking down our favorite options right now in our 2023 collection of the best portable SSDs to close out the year. Check them out below.

Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD Review: Yes, this drive really does move data at 12,400MB/s

Buy now From $180

We first reported about PCIe 5.0 SSDs way back in January of 2022. Now, we’re finally starting to see some hit the market. While MSI, CORSAIR, and GIGABYTE have all already released their PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs, so far, they’ve been topping out at only around 10,000MB/s. Yes, we say “only” here because Crucial is taking things up a notch with the launch of its T700 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD. Crucial claims that this is the “world’s fastest” SSD, and while we haven’t tested the aforementioned drives, we have spent the past few weeks with the T700 and…the company’s claims are true. With transfer speeds hitting upward of 12,400MB/s, the Crucial T700 has the ability to move a 12GB file in under a second. Let that sink in for 12GB…I mean a second. Not sold yet? Head below for our full review where we compare the drive to other industry-leading SSDs on the market for a true benchmark of how fast it is.
