SanDisk launches the world’s fastest 64GB microSDXC card, early benchmarks confirm speed claims

SanDisk is doing their part to push the limits of current smartphones, tablets, digital cameras and all other electronic devices that utilize external storage. A standard Class 10 memory card may be acceptable for everyday memory activities, but sometimes you need some extra zip. That speed burst makes a huge difference when capturing incredible photos in succession, recording 4K video, or backing up extremely large files. SanDisk’s new 64GB microSDXC card is the fastest in the world with read/write speeds up to 80MB/sec and 50MB/sec. In addition to capturing HD media, this new lineup of SanDisk memory cards are ideal for secure backups. SanDisk claims to protect the physical integrity of the cards with a durable design. They are waterproof, shockproof and X-ray resistant.

These new ultra-fast, high capacity memory cards are a perfect companion to current (and future) advanced Android phones and tablets that support removable storage devices.

Most high-end smartphones are now driven by high-speed quad-core processors, which deliver Full HD content and applications to large, high-resolution external displays,” said Stuart Robinson, director, handset component technologies service, Strategy Analytics. “Such applications require high memory bandwidth which is ideal for the SanDisk Extreme microSDXC card, the world’s fastest microSDXC memory solution.

Android Police actually got their hands on the 64GB MicroSDXC and were able to put it through the wringer and can confirm that SanDisk’s new cards are in fact as fast as they say. (Benchmark image to the right via Android Police)

Owners of Mac notebooks can even take advantage of these new cards by using a cheap microSD adapter.  It fits various Retina MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models.

The new lineup of SanDisk Extreme microSDHC and microSDXC cards are available in 16-64GB capacities, with MSRPs ranging from $60 to $200.  But it appears Amazon is already offering them (with a slight delay) way below retail.
