SanDisk is joining a crowded room of wireless storage devices. These nifty gadgets allow users to access the stored content (music, movies, photos, etc) on their mobile devices through a wireless connection. Definitely useful for expanding the storage capacities of locked down devices like iPads and iPhones. SanDisk has announced their new Connect line which features a wireless flash drive and portable media player with SD expansion slot. Both devices are capable of streaming media and other content to your Mac, PC, iDevice, Android device, Kindle Fire and more. Android and iOS devices gain access to these devices via a free app from SanDisk. Most notably, both products can support up to 5 simultaneous HD movie streams. That means an entire family can be watching a different movie on their own mobile device from just one SanDisk Connect product. Helping you ‘cut the cord’ even more, these devices do not require an internet connection. Instead, they utilize an integrated access point to securely connect to your mobile device.
The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is available in 16GB and 32GB capacities, starting at $50. But the upgrade to 32GB is a no brainer at just a $10 premium. The SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is also available in 32GB and 64GB flavors, starting at $80. The entire product line is available now from Amazon.
