Google announces the lighter, more powerful 1080p Nexus 7 starting at $230

Hugo Barra took the stage at this morning’s Google event to introduce the new Nexus 7 1080p. As you probably already know, the device has been significantly updated to be 50 grams lighter and 2mm thinner and yet boasts better specs all around.

The updated 7″ tablet features front 1.2MP and rear 5MP cameras along with the highest DPI of any tablet on the market with its 323 pixels per inch, 1920×1200 display. It has a 1.5GHz Snapdragon chipset clocking in at nearly 80% faster, 4 times GPU frame rate for gamers and double the RAM at 2GB. The 16 GB is $229.99, the 32GB is $269.99 and the LTE version will be $349.
