These AA and AAA batteries can be recharged from any USB power source

Rechargeable batteries are a must-have for anyone. With so many juice-sucking gadgets in our lives, it makes zero sense to stock up on expensive disposable batteries. Now, if you want to really go next level and eschew the battery charger, then you’re looking at rechargeable batteries with USB charging…

A recently launched Kickstarter campaign called Lightors is aiming to fund its micro-USB rechargeable AA and AAA batteries. Pull back the silicon cover, pop in any micro-USB cable (yes, the same one that powers your Android phone), plug the other end of the cable into any USB power source and the batteries will begin to recharge.

An on-board LED changes colors to let you know when the batteries are fully charged. The AA model is rated at 1500mAh, while the AAA caries a 600mAh capacity. If you back this project now a two-pack of AA or AA batteries with a cable will cost you $8 and it should arrive later this year.

Don’t want to wait months for a couple of batteries to arrive? Amazon currently sells similar AA batteries that recharge via any USB port. Instead of requiring a micro-USB cable, this version has its USB port built-in so you can plug it directly into a power source. They’re a little more pricey at $15, but they’re available now and have a proven track record.
