This Transformers Autobot look-alike projects a virtual Magic Trackpad on your desk

In an attempt to improve the mouse, Serafim is utiziling Kickstarter to create a new projection-centric design that puts many of the multi-touch controls that Apple users are familiar with directly onto a surface. We have already seen projection keyboard solutions of varying size and price points, but the ODiN Aurora claims to be the “world’s first projection mouse“.

The projector itself is housed in an Transformers Autobot look-alike, that casts the mouse onto your desk. Powered by a USB connector, the ODiN Aurora displays two larger right and left buttons at the top, with a large square box underneath when the cursor is manipulated. Aside from the traditional right/left clicks, it is also capable of pinch-to-zoom, dragging and scrolling. It has a fairly compact design, even in comparison to a regular mouse, coming in a 4cm wide by 5cm tall. The ODiN Aurora even claims to helps soothe away carpal tunnel problems by decreasing the angle at which your wrist sits while using it.

The ODiN Aurora is currently in the early stages of its Kickstarter program, but has already raised $35,000 or 70% of its $50,000 goal. Interested? You’ll be able to grab a projection mouse by pledging $49 to the campaign, it will ship in black, silver or green.
