New iOS/Mac game releases: Sid Meier’s Starships & Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter 5

A few notable new iOS and Mac releases have hit the App Stores this week including today’s launch of the follow-up to Civilization: Beyond Earth known as Sid Meier’s Starships and Gameloft’s latest entry in the Dungeon Hunter series.

Head below for more details:

Taking place between Civilization V and the interplanetary settlements of Beyond Earth, Starships offers a familiar, albeit somewhat stripped down, experience as the recent major PC releases. Players will find dynamically generated maps, victory conditions, and enemies as well as deeply modular spaceship designs and customizable crew members. There is also cross-play content with Beyond Earth and much of the “Diplomacy, Strategy, and Exploration” mechanics Civ fans are used to, but there does not appear to be any multiplayer support at this time.

Travel to new worlds, completing missions to help save and protect the planets and their people from dangerous Space Pirates, to powerful Marauders and other hostile factions. Build a planetary federation as you strengthen your fleet and secure your homeworld as you attempt to preserve intergalactic peace and your vision of humanity.

Next up, Gameloft has launched the latest entry in its popular Dungeon Hunter series. Approaching 65,000 4+ star reviews on the previous two games, Dungeon Hunter 5 is clearly a title hack n’ slash RPG fans should take a look at. It features co-op, weekly events and asynchronous multi-player as well as a single player campaign that will take players through 5 realms and “countless dungeons”.

After stopping the demon invasion in the Kingdom of Valenthia, the world remains shattered, crumbling at its very core — destruction and desolation seeping from its wounds — but even when we try to rebuild, things never go back to how they once were… Now, things are different.
