Today, NeoLAB officially launched its Neo smartpen N2 following a wildly successful Kickstart campaign that raised more than over $350,000. Even more impressive is that the original goal was just $20,000. After selling some 2,500 pens during the initial round of crowdfunding, those that missed out are able to grab one today.
The aluminum N2 looks like a pen from the future — it writes with ink on paper like a traditional scribe but the magic happens when it is connected to an iOS or Android device. Your writing, sketches and scribbles are transcribed just as the ink dries on paper. This looks like an intriguing feature, especially given how hit or miss most connected styluses have been.
Even when not paired with a device, the N2 can store up to 1,000 pages of writing. The video alone on this pen is pretty cool;
Additionally, the N2 will be able to record and sync audio notes with your devices. Within the app, users will be able to organize and sort notes by title, tags or date created. Content will also automatically sync with Evernote or sent to applications like Adobe Illustrator or Dropbox. The app is even able to convert digital text into 15 languages.
NeoLAB’s N2 is available today from Amazon for $169 in black or white and includes a holder with purchase.
Meeting Huge Demand from Kickstarter Launch, the World’s Sleekest Smart Pen Makes U.S. Debut
SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today’s launch of NeoLAB Convergence’s Neo smartpen N2 (N2) marks an exciting milestone in the emerging smart pen category. N2’s promise is simple: just write as you would with any other pen, and the N2 will automatically turn on, recognize what you are writing, on which page of which book, and digitalize that content. Through the accompanying Neo Notes application, available on both Android and iOS phones and tablets, users can organize, share, and upload their content to third party applications like Evernote, Dropbox and Illustrator to further enhance creative ideas.
“We believe that the possibilities of a pen and paper are huge, and with N2 – the opportunities with pen and paper are unlimited.”
With its slim, ergonomic design, N2 – a 2015 iF Design Award winner – looks cool and feels comfortable in a user’s hand. It works in tandem with NeoLAB Convergence’s patented notepaper and the Neo Notes app. The N2 was designed to be an ideal alternative to existing products in the smart pen category that are either bulky, compatible with iOS devices only, or require separate receivers.
N2 launched in the international market via a Kickstarter campaign in September 2014, raising 20 times its initial funding goal within just three weeks. A Kickstarter “Staff Pick,” the N2 attracted more than 2,000 backers and sold more than 2,500 pens, making it a top three tech product on Kickstarter.

N2 enhances the way people write, draw, and thus, perform, which is why it has built a loyal fan base around the world. “We are inspired by the stories of a wide range of users all over the world, from marketers to entrepreneurs to artists. We designed the N2 to bridge the gap between analog and digital in the era of the Internet of Things,” said Dr. Eddie Lee, co-founder and CTO at NeoLAB Convergence. “We believe that the possibilities of a pen and paper are huge, and with N2 – the opportunities with pen and paper are unlimited.”
