Power solutions for our smartphones and tablets are a dime and dozen at this point. Huge power banks that are capable of charging our devices multiple times. Inductive charging has been around for awhile with Android devices, now Apple Watch is depending on this type of power supply as well.
However, there is always room for improvement. One Kickstarter campaign is aiming to do so by combining magnets with wireless charging to create a solution to a situation everyone faces…
ON is a portable wireless charging platform that is assisted by magnets to use inductive charging. Following up on its successful AUGMENT Kickstarter campaign, RUBIX is now attempting to simplify charging our devices even further.
The ON charger works with any Qi compatible device and has a 5000mAh battery for charging on the go. Users will pop the ON case around the device, which is highlighted by a slim design that allows for charging and syncing via USB. The built-in ON Charge Ring Receiver connects with the Ring Transmitter when your device snaps onto the charger. From there, your iPhone or Android phone is charged wirelessly. RUBIX claims that ON will be able to charge “most phones up to three times”.
This device is particularly intriguing for its combination home and on-the-go design. The Charge Ring Transmitter connects to an outlet via USB and serves as a nightly charging station but be tossed into your bag to serve as a battery pack throughout the day. The lack of extra cables required in comparison to traditional power banks make ON an attractive option. Initially, it was slated to be available for iPhone only but RUBIX has stretch goals for Android and other devices as well.
A pledge of $99 will get you an ON charger and case in black or white, with additional levels delivering more for groups or families. RUBIX aims to raise $80,000 to bring this project to fruition, with 31 days remaining nearly $10,000 has been pledged.
