Update (6/27 12:15pm): @cheeyi is our winner, thank you for entering our giveaway.
Earlier this month, Grovemade announced the newest member of its desk collection: the Trackpad Tray. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with the Walnut rendition that wraps Apple’s Magic Trackpad in a beautifully crafted piece of wood. Grovemade has taken extra steps to deliver a one-of-a-kind American made home for one of our favorite Apple accessories.
Head below for all of our thoughts on the Trackpad Tray and to find out how you can win one for yourself.
Like the other Grovemade products that we’ve reviewed, the Trackpad Tray stands out as a carefully crafted add-on to Apple’s accessories. The walnut is meticulously shaped to ensconce the Magic Trackpad, making it seem like the two were meant for each other. Grovemade does a superb job of combining natural materials with Apple’s aluminum products and this latest example is no exception to that trend.
The Trackpad Tray is highlighted by a thin piece of aluminum around the bottom half of the wood, it all rests on a piece of corkboard so it doesn’t slide during use. A notch above the engrained Grovemade logo is the access point to a storage area beneath the Magic Trackpad. It’s a clever design that utilizes the round top of the input device to act as a hinge, lift it up to reveal a carved out area to store batteries, pins, paper clips and the like. Much like what is found in Grovemade’s Keyboard Tray, it’s an astute idea for wrangling all those extra small desk items into one place.
To be clear, the Trackpad Tray is a luxury item. It doesn’t really improve the Magic Trackpad’s functionality, but it does add something visually to your desk. Its polished design fits right in amongst Apple’s aluminum design materials and looks beautiful with the rest of the Grovemade desk collection. It is available in either Walnut or Maple with a retail price of $59.
