Earlier in the month, Force Friday delivered a big time selection of toys and merchandise for the upcoming Star Wars film The Force Awakens. But those interested in something a little more high-class will want to check out two new luxury Dark Side watches that are just hitting the market.
Timepiece designers Devon and Nixon have released new limited edition watches that would’ve fit right in at the Death Star. One model certainly has a price that is out of this galaxy.
Devon is a high-end watchmaker from California focusing on unique products that stand out from the competition. It’s no surprise that its new Star Wars-inspired timepiece does just that. With 350 individual parts and a highly-detailed design, Devon has put a focus on developing a one-of-a-kind addition to any wardrobe.
It has TIE Fighter Wings on each side of the large watch face. Darth Vader helmet spikes and a rotary dial with the Imperial Crest also complement the outside, as well. Stainless steel, titanium fasteners and a black “diamond-like” coating complete the luxurious outer design.
The display overlaps a mechanical background that features 313 electrical contacts. The hour is largely displayed on the left, while minutes and seconds are in the background. Devon has designed a unique wireless charging system that allows the watch to sit perched above a matching TIE Fighter to provide two weeks of power on a single charge.
Devon knows that it has a special product on its hands…or wrists. It will be manufacturing just 500 models with a $28,000 price tag. Pre-orders are currently open, but you’ll have to reserve a place in line first to become eligible. Pair this watch with the $18,000 TIE Fighter MusicMachine 3 and you’ll really have something.
This summer another watchmaker, Nixon, released its Star Wars Ranger watch at Comic Con in San Diego. It comes in two color options: Stormtrooper White and Imperial Pilot Black. Nixon opted for a much simpler design than Devon but none-the-less the styling is absolutely on point.
As expected, the first round of Ranger watches sold out quickly. Nixon will be releasing a full line of Star Wars inspired watches on September 18th with more designs focused on Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Pricing and availability will be announced at that time, but you can bet they will be much less than the Devon above.
Despite these two high-end options coming to market, there are still plenty of alternatives to bring Star Wars to your wrist. Be sure to take a look at these sweet LEGO watches that include figurines and customizable link bracelets.
