SodaStream gets tipsy with its new Beer Bar homebrew beverage maker

It was bound to happen and now it has. SodaStream has introduced a new consumer beer creation system that can produce a homebrew in just a few seconds. The design and function are very similar to the company’s existing line of products. Dubbed the Beer Bar, this new appliance uses special concentrate to transform Sparkling Water into a beverage of choice. More below…

SodaStream promises “quality home-crafted beer” by using a unique solution that produces a couple of different flavors. Overall, the Beer Bar will be very familiar in terms of function and capabilities. Initially, the company will be offering a Blondie light beer than has a 4.5 ABV. One liter of mix will provide roughly three liters of beverage. SodaStream promises a “a smooth authentic taste, and a hop-filled aroma.”

After the initial rollout in Germany and Switzerland, SodaStream plans on expanding its offerings throughout 2017. Other alcohol beverages are in the works as well. According to the company’s CEO, there are significant long-term plans for this product.

“We are excited to launch a brand dedicated to serving the global growing trend of home crafted beer,” says Daniel Birnbaum, Chief Executive Officer of SodaStream. “Our core carbonation technology and distribution infrastructure provide a great platform for us to extend our business into this emerging category, and we choose to do so with a dedicated beer brand.”

As of today, the Beer Bar is available for purchase direct from SodaStream’s European storefront. Pricing has yet to be announced on any North American release but that is expected to come some time in 2016.
