Sony crushes E3 2016 with non-stop games: God of War, Last Guardian, Spider-Man, new Kojima game, Resident Evil 7, more

Sony came out very strong at this year’s E3 with one of the most memorable showcase events in recent memory. It was a barrage of games, many of which were completely new titles, along with some very exciting details. The brand new God of War, an actual release date for The Last Guardian, a new Resident Evil title, new Horizon Zero Dawn gameplay footage and even more. Pricing and release dates for PS VR, the new Hideo Kojima game and what might be the most exciting Spider-Man game we have seen in many years, thanks to developer Insomniac.

Head below for all the details, footage and more:

Sony opened the show with an emotional live orchestra performance and epic reveal for the brand new God of War. Not some brief trailer either, this was a full blown gameplay demonstration right off the top.

Several years ago we at Santa Monica Studio began the journey of creating a new God of War. All of us recognized a special honor and responsibility to create a different and better and truly more memorable experience than before. I realized early on that we had to make changes in every aspect of the game.

It looks as though the rumors of a completely new setting are true, but not much is known at this point. Feast your eyes on what appears to be early parts of the game and a giant troll fight:

Next we saw a trailer for Days Gone, a new post-apocalyptic zombie title from Bend Studios.

The one everyone has been waiting for (forever). The Last Guardian debuted a brand new trailer hinting at some very interesting story elements. Two giant bird-cat-dogs?!?!? And finally we get a release date: October 25th, 2016.

Horizon Zero Dawn is next, another highly anticipated title. We got a brand new gameplay trailer along with more of its beautiful scenery, mechanical beasts, a quick look at some crafting, the menu systems and more. We also get a quick peak at the override mechanic that allows the player to take control and ride the mechanical animals.

Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human reveals more of its cinematic gameplay in the E3 trailer above.

January 24th, 2017 will see the release of the brand new Resident Evil 7 Bio Hazard. Judging by the footage, it looks to have left the action in the dark in favor of a more true-to-form horror experience. And the demo can be played right now!

The whole game will be playable on PS VR when it’s available:

We now have an official release date for PlayStation VR along with the price tag. It will hit stores on October 13th in the US for $399. It will have more than 50 games from launch until the end of this year, according to Sony. Some of which include a Star Wars Battlefront flight title, Batman Arkham VR, and an intense looking astronaut exploration title called Farpoint,

The stellar looking Final Fantasy XV also appeared in Sony’s showcase with a new VR trailer followed by some campaign gameplay footage from the upcoming Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. Crash Bandicoot is coming back with the original two titles and Warped being fully remastered for PS4, along with an appearance in Skylanders Imaginators this October.

Metal Gear creator, Hideo Kojima made an appearance, after being signed to Sony some time ago, with the first trailer for what looks to be his mysterious new project Death Stranding.

And wow, this is a surprise, and a very nice one at that. We are getting a brand new Spider-Man from Insomniac games, the makers of Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive.
