Shift Drone uses a unique one-handed remote control to navigate the sky and capture 4K video

After DJI and GoPro each announced new drones in September, another brand has taken to Kickstarter with eyes on the sky. Called Shift Drone, this product uses a unique one-handed remote control system to navigate and fly. It has a thumb ring that extends from the tubular metal handheld and works in conjunction with an optical sensor to provide direction. The goal is to create a simpler system for pilots that is less intimidating than its competitors. Just moving your thumb up or down will control elevation while side-to-side adjusts direction.

Shift Drone isn’t just about the remote control. It has a built-in 13 megapixel camera that can also capture 4K video. You’ll be able to view a live-feed on your smartphone with an optional add-on. Much like the other mainstream drones announced this fall, Shift uses a forward camera that will not capture its blades in the image while flying. Shift is available for pre-order on Kickstarter with a $790 price tag. It’s slated to ship in March.

“Shift” is the first user-centric drone with a revolutionary controller. With “Shift”, you can enjoy flying a drone with just one hand & one thumb. Simply hold the controller and wear a special ring on your thumb. “Shift” is the first drone that uses “One Hand Control” system – flying a drone in a very simple and intuitive way.  There are several features that make the “Shift” exceptional from current existing drones. Experiencing our seamlessly designed drone, you would change perceptions about drones. Version 2’s Ring is not attached to the controller; once you wear the ring on your thumb, the ring can move independently in any position. Thus, you can control a drone more delicately and change directions as you wish.
