Vespa is set to release an all-electric version of its iconic scooter in 2017

It’s no surprise that more and more companies are turning their attention to electric transportation. Lower prices and more readily-available charging stations are making this alternative all the more attractive. The latest of which is the iconic Vespa brand out of Europe. This week it announced that it would be rolling out a new electric scooter called the Elettrica in 2017. It will have all of the classic styling we’ve come to love from Vespa plus a few neat under-the-hood features.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many details at this time but Vespa promises an experience much like the rest of its lineup. The addition of an electric engine is guaranteed to be a hit with Millennials looking to cash-in on lower energy costs and fewer emissions. We do know that it will have a silver aluminum body with bright blue accents that pays homage to its electric power source. We’d expect the Elettrica to come in at the higher range of Vespa’s pricing model, but that’s to be expected given its history and recognizable design.

The Electric Vespa will, first and foremost, be a true Vespa, bringing the very latest in electric technology to a vehicle that will retain all the features that have been vital to its success. The style, agility, ease of use and riding pleasure will be the same as the Vespa we have always known, with the addition of technological and innovative connectivity solutions. A perfect mix of excitement, technology and environmental friendliness that only Vespa can create. As it has always done in its first seventy years of history.
