Huawei MediaPad M3 8-inch dual-speaker Android tablet: $239 shipped (Reg. $300)

Huawei started selling the MediaPad M3 Android tablet on Amazon just a week ago, and now it’s already getting a discount. Amazon has the Huawei + Harman Kardon MediaPad M3 8.0 on sale for $239.00 shipped, which is $60 less than the retail price and the lowest we’ve seen for a new device. The tablet has an octa-core processor, an 8.4-inch display, and Android Marshmallow in tow…

While we haven’t reviewed it in full yet, we have used the Huawei MediaPad M3 — and I’d say it’s actually half-decent. That tablet packs an 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution display, a Kirin octa-core processor, 32GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and Android 6.0. It’s still no Android Nougat (which, quite frankly, this tablet should be launching with), but at least it’s not 3 years old.

Here are the full specs:

  • 8.4-inch IPS (2560 x 1600 pixels) display
  • Huawei HiSilicon Kirin octa-core processor (4 x A72@2.3 GHz + 4 x A53@1.8 GHz)
  • Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Emotion UI 4.1
  • 32GB storage
  • 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac at 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz
  • Front camera: 8 MP, fixed focus
  • Rear camera: 8 MP, autofocus
  • Built-in microphone
  • Dual speakers
  • 3.5 mm stereo headset jack
  • microSD: supports cards up to 128 GB

The biggest downside with this tablet compared to other tablets on the market is its software, which is definitely subpar out of the box. Huawei’s EMUI on top of Android Marshmallow can be a bit laggy and buggy, but software updates should be coming with EMUI 5.0 to improve those fallbacks. Even with this in mind, though, 5 Amazon customers give it 4.6 out of 5 stars.

Huawei/Amazon are also offering the bottom-of-the-line Huawei MediaPad T1 7.0 Quad Core 7-inch tablet running Android KitKat for $50, which is half of the $100 retail price that they just launched at. These are 8GB, and available in both silver and black.
