Strike is the “world’s first” smart baseball that connects to your iPhone and relays key data

There has never been a shortage of smartphone-connected sporting goods since companies realized that you can easily put a sensor on bats, rackets or shoes. But for baseball, it’s largely been limited to every piece of equipment but the ball itself. A new Kickstarter project is looking to change that. Strike is “the world’s first smart baseball” according to the manufacturer. As you’d expect, it can monitor and detect a number of different stats including speed, trajectory and spin rate. It connects to your smartphone and tracks data with eyes on improving your game over an extended period of time.

Strike has a built-in sensor that is part accelerometer and part gyroscope. Unlike Zepp’s Swing Analyzer, this product is designed for pitchers. It connects over Bluetooth and has been carefully designed to withstand the beating that comes with the life of a baseball. Users can expect around 12 hours of use on a single charge of the built-in battery. The free Strike app combines all of your data into one central location for sharing and analyzation. Currently a pledge of $99 is set to deliver a unit in July.

Strike measures:

3D Trajectory: Our dedicated algorithm tracks the ball’s path and generates a 3D replay.

Spin: Strike measures each pitch’s spin rate which is key to curve balls.

Speed: Strike can instantly detect the ball’s velocity.

Pitch Location: Our strike zone detection technology helps you improve your accuracy.

Rotation Axis: Strike records the ball’s axis of rotation so you can better understand your pitch.
