As the number of devices a person has begins to increase, so too does the need to ensure that everything stays charged when on the go. There are tons of power-packs geared towards ensuring we never have battery related troubles. But when faced with the daunting task of powering all of our devices, most fall flat. The first product from a new startup Ecoflow hopes to solve these qualms with a single 116,000 mAh mobile power station.
Weighing in at only 11 pounds, River features a fairly standard battery design, which is wrapped is in a durable, dust proof plastic casing. The top of the device’s shell sports a convenient carrying handle, while the side is dominated by a variety of charing ports. A display completes the design, which showcases various power usage metrics. As of now, there are two color variants available, one with a black finish, and another with a white one.
Ecoflow presents River as either serving as an emergency power backup for your home or as an ideal companion for one’s mobile lifestyle. At its core, the device sports a massive 116,000 mAh battery that outputs up 500 watts of power. Broken down, that means you can recharge your phone around 30 times, get about 9 full laptop charges and 80 GoPro batteries worth of photo.
Port-wise, River comes equipped with 11 total outputs, four quick charging USB-A, two USB-C, two AC and DC outlets and finally a single 12V car socket. As with most other power packs, it can be recharged through a standard wall outlet, but also through an optional solar charger or even via your car.
While there are other mobile power stations on the market like the Anker Powerhouse, River is geared more towards a rugged lifestyle. It has the ability to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and IP63 water and dust resistance. Compared to the competition, it ultimately offers more support for outdoorsmen and others living an on-the-go life.
River is currently in the process of completing a campaign over on Indiegogo. So far, it’s drastically exceeded the initial $40,000 goal and raised an impressive $138,247. With a month still left to back River, early bird pricing starts at $459, which saves you 35% off the device’s eventual retail price. Assuming all goes well between now and the campaign’s end, River will be shipping out to backers sometime in July.
