Review: Yesgo iPhone 7/Plus cases offer protection at a value price

It’s often difficult to decide which case we should wrap our coveted smartphones in. When searching for that perfect accessory, many of us look for stylish ones that offer added protection, while still complementing the design of our device. For the past two weeks, I’ve been using the Yesgo iPhone 7 case, and can already say that it checks off all three of these points.

As a whole, the case has a high quality, well-made feeling to it. Built from a solid rubbery plastic, it also incorporates a hard, interchangeable back shell. The combination of the two materials provides protection, but also customization as you can chose between three colors to match your iPhone.

Yesgo’s case is fairly grippy as well. The plastic is just tactile enough, which when paired with grooves on the side of the accessory achieves a case that’s comfortable to hold. The front portion of the case extends past the iPhone’s screen, protecting from scratches when laying your device face down.

The case isn’t perfect though, my main gripe stems from the accessory’s larger size. Despite being on the bigger side compared to Apple’s silicone and leather offerings, I had no issues using various Lightning cables to charge my iPhone in the case. Docks however, did prove to be an issue. Apple’s official Lightning dock worked fine, but your milage may very when trying to charge with others.

I’ve been taking full advantage of the iPhone 7’s water-resistance and Yesgo’s case had no trouble keeping up. When using the phone near or in water, I had no troubles dealing with residual water. And while on the topic of unexpected features, despite the fact the case is on the bulkier side, it’s somehow thin enough to still work with magnetic car mounts.

Ultimately, regardless of if you’re just in the market for a new case all together, or looking to pick up something that adds extra protection to your device then this may be for you. Yesgo offers its case for both the iPhone 7 and 7+ starting at $14.97, which is available in three different colors, Gunmetal, Matte Black and Rose Gold. While I typically opt for Apple’s standard silicone cases as my daily driver, Yesgo’s offerings may have converted me for the future.
