Polk’s new Chromecast-powered MagniFi soundbar offers 5.1-Ch. surround sound

For those serious about perfecting their home theater setups, the audio equipment that one selects is just as important as the TV model. If you’re looking for a simpler option than wired surround sound system, soundbars have grown to be a great solution. Polk, one of the largest contenders in the home audio market, has released the new MagniFi MAX SR soundbar, which offers high-end audio and is accompanied by supplemental wireless speakers and subwoofer.

Soundbars are fairly standard in design and functionality. The quality of the materials can differ, but there isn’t much in terms of physical design that can be altered. While Polk’s latest MagniFi MAX SR soundbar is on the more elegant side, it really stands out with the features it sports.

Packed within the soundbar and accompanying speakers are patented SDA surround technology which provides a more ‘immersive listening experience’ as well as offering Voice Adjust preferences to alter crystal clear dialogue. The seven driver array, as well as the wireless subwoofer provides what is said to be bigger, more dynamic sound than traditional soundbars.

Aside from the standard fair, one of the crowning features of the MagniFi soundbar is that it sports built-in Google Chromecast and the accompanying functionalities. This means that the speaker can stream music from your favorite services like Spotify, connect to your Google Home assistant and more.

Port-wise, the soundbar is well equipped to handle any input you might need to throw at it. With three 4K-ready HDMI inputs, standard 3.5mm AUX jack, Ethernet and optical audio. In terms of wireless connections, you’ll find Bluetooth, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and the aforementioned Chromecast.

The Polk MagniFi soundbar also seeks to make setup an ease. Thanks to Polk Smart Remote technology, it works right out of the box with practically any Samsung, Sony, Vizio and LG TV remote. This allows the you to control the soundbar with your existing remote, and without the need for second one. The speaker also is equipped with a unique wall-mounting system which allows for horizontal adjustment to ensure a level and centered soundbar.

For those looking to upgrade their home audio setup, you’ll have to wait a little while to pick up Polk’s latest soundbar. Coming out sometime soon, the Polk MagniFi soundbar will retail for the price of $599. This includes the soundbar itself, two wireless rear surround sound speakers and a subwoofer.
If you can’t wait, there are a variety of soundbars and speakers currently available to take your home theater to the next level. Vizio offers a similar sound package which includes the same audio array without all the flair.
