Prynt Pocket lets you print photos from your iPhone like a Polaroid camera

$150

Almost everyone old enough to remember has fond memories of the original Polaroid camera. It was so simple, so easy to use and so much fun! Now you have the power to turn your iPhone in to an instant camera with a device called the Prynt Pocket. Better yet, you can embed video into still pictures and view them with your phone in augmented reality.

The Prynt pocket, as you might have guessed, is in fact small enough to fit in your pocket or in the palm of your hand. It’s a new device that attaches to your phone at the Lightning port and lets you to instantly print your images on ink-free ZINK sticker paper. It also has a grip with a physical shutter release and zoom wheel. The printer uses 2×3-inch tear-resistant paper which also has an adhesive backing. The device comes with 10 sheets, and additional 40-packs can be purchased for $19.99.

The app that comes with the Prynt Pocket allows you to overlay filters and text on images, and it even has the ability to record a 10-second video along with the photo. Anyone with the Prynt app can hold the printed photo in front of their camera and see the video play back using AR. Taking shots with the Prynt is simple. Just attach any iPhone to the Prynt Pocket, take or choose a photo, and get a printed photo in seconds. Almost exactly like a classic Polaroid camera.

The Prynt Pocket is not the first of its kind. It’s actually the successor to the Prynt Case, which was released in 2014. It was a much more of a bulky attachment for your phone, but the Prynt Pocket in comparison is just a portable clip that snaps on like a dock. The print quality of the Prynt Pocket has room to improve, but it’s a relatively cheap option that utilizes the camera you already have in your pocket.

Currently, it’s compatible with the iPhone 5/s/SE, 6/s Plus and 7/Plus with the promise of Android devices coming soon. You can get your own for $149.99. Prynt Pocket units are expected to ship starting today, and you can pre-order them now from the Prynt website. Also, Amazon is expected to stock it the coming weeks as well.
