Pretty much everything in our lives is getting upgraded with smart functionally, from the bulbs we use to light our home, the TVs and speakers we use to enjoy our favorite content and even our coffee machines. But the way we display our art hasn’t changed much, falling behind the rest of our home’s assortment of decor and gadgets. Now with its latest product named Frame, Depict looks to bring museum quality art to our living rooms.
The Depict Frame is based around a 49-inch display housed in a stylish wooden casing. The immense size isn’t the only thing that defines Frame, it also sports museum-quality color accuracy that is optimized for viewing both fine art and moving images.
Bringing art to one’s home by way of a picture frame-like digital display isn’t an entirely new concept, as we’ve seen products from companies like Samsung in the past. But that doesn’t mean Depict’s Frame doesn’t stand out, in fact its unique emphasis should garner some love from the more art-oriented crowds.
Depict prides itself on its vast collection of curated pieces which are frequently updated to continue bringing high quality and stunning works to our homes. The distribution of these artwork assortments are broken into two subscription plans, one of which is free, while the other is a paid, premium service.
The free plan revolves around Depict’s Complimentary Collection of works which is updated monthly. There’s no word on the number of pieces within this collection, but it should provide a diverse assortment of styles.
On the paid end of things, the premium subscription includes the artworks encompassed by the free plan, but also includes a variety of additional collections, which are updated weekly. Premium subscribers will also receive access to new releases and have on-demand access to their favorite pieces.
At the center of Depict’s artwork collections is the Frame’s companion iOS and Android application. Within the app, you’ll be able to browse from Depict’s curated assortments of art and select which piece you’d like to display.
In order to stay consistent with the high quality of its premium art collections, Frame sports a display with 4K Ultra HD resolution. This allows selected artworks to be displayed as crisp as possible and offers smooth video playback as well.
Depict’s Frame is currently available for preorder at $899 plus shipping. You’ll have your choice between black and white colorways as well as the option to subscribe to Depict’s collection of premium artworks. The Depict Frame is estimated to be shipping later this summer along with its iOS app and subscription service.
