An eBike with a 100-mile maximum range sounds pretty unbelievable right? Well Electra has launched two new eBikes that break this notion that electric vehicles lack the power for extended trips. Pairing the company’s signature design with an impressive 100-mile maximum range, these eBikes look to be the perfect balance of form and function.
Electra has been producing stylish high-end bicycles for the past few decades, but the company’s recently announced eBikes aren’t its first. Having been released back in 2010, the Townie Go drew inspiration from the other rides in Electra’s fleet. Now once again the company adds eBike features to its standard design with the Loft and Townie Commute Go eBike
Despite releasing two different models, the specs on both eBikes are pretty similar. You’ll find the same 250W mid-frame motor, 100-mile maximum range and four models of pedal support on the Loft Go as well as the Townie Commute Go. Both also come equipped with an 8-speed gear shift, puncture-resistant tires and hydraulic disc brakes.
Missing from these eBikes are features like smartphone connectivity, integrated USB ports for charging and other smart functionality. Electra ditches what could be seen as ‘gimmicky’ features in favor of more simplistic, streamlined eBikes. Rather than compromise on range or the company’s iconic style, losing a few of the features we’ve seen from other eBikes seems like a fair tradeoff.
The main difference between both models of Electra’s eBikes are the designs. With the Townie Commute Go, the design is closer to the standard you’d expect for an eBike. While the step-through version does get some of the signature curves from other bikes in Electra’s lineup, it’s fairly reserved compared to the Loft Go.
While both eBikes offer a fair amount of customization, a majority of it comes in the way of different color options which can be chosen from. Loft Go is available in three different colorways, two of which are pastel-themed: black, cream, aqua. On the other hand, the Townie Commute Go comes in black, mineral blue, white color options. The Townie Commute Go goes one step further though with customization thanks to being able to chose between one of the two different frame styles; step-through and step-over.
If you find yourself being a fan of Electra’s new eBikes’ design and 100-mile range, both models are available starting at $2,799.99 for the Loft Go version. Fancy the look of the Townie Commute Go eBike instead? That’ll run you an extra $200, bringing the total up to a whopping $2,999.99. In order to actually buy one of the luxury eBikes, you’ll have to track down one of the Electra-authorized dealers.
