Omega unveils limited edition James Bond Commander’s Watch

We just passed the 50th Anniversary of iconic James Bond film You Only Live Twice hitting theaters, and in celebration Omega is releasing a new limited edition Commander’s Watch. This gorgeous timepiece blends high-end craftsmanship with British Royal Navy-borrowed stylings. The summer of 2017 also marks 40th and 20th anniversaries of the release of The Spy Who Loved Me and Tomorrow Never Dies, as well, marking three total films that showcase James Bond in his military uniform. This limited edition watch is sure to be a hit with collectors and you can own one as well, if you’re prepared to pay up.

Let’s start with the design, which is headlined by beautiful saturated colors and eye-catching details. The Omega Seamaster Commander’s Watch has a five-stripe NATO band with blue, red and gray colorings paying homage to its Navy inspiration and polished metal buckles. Omega also includes a 007 metal bracelet for when the occasion calls for a different look.

The watch face sits in a 41mm stainless steel casing with a blue ceramic bezel that’s accompanied by a Liquidmetal diving scale. Omega denotes the first 15 minutes with a red rubber covering. Blue minute and hour hands are off-set by a 007-branded counterweight on the seconds. A small date window displays the day, with the seventh of each month highlighted by a red digit.

Aside from the deep history with 007, Omega watches also go back some time with the British Royal Navy. In World War II, over 110,000 watches were delivered to military divers around the world. The brand made its first appearance on James Bond’s wrist in Golden Eye some 22 years ago.

Omega ships its Commander’s Watch with a three-year warranty and a special edition box with tools, pins and the previously mentioned metal bracelet. There will be 7,007 pieces made in total for sale, making this is a collector’s item for 007 fans. Omega is also planning on making just seven 18k yellow gold watches, too. The standard NATO and Metal Bracelet Commander’s Watch will retail for around $5,000 when it hits boutiques in the coming weeks.

If you’re not ready to drop that much money on a new watch but dig the NATO styling, we recommend checking out Timex’s Weekender Watches. This Cavas Strap model has similar blue and red colors for $40. It’s an Amazon favorite, too, with nearly 5,000 reviewers leaving a 4.3/5 star rating. There are plenty of other styles available as well for even less. Shop the Timex store at Amazon to find the look that fits you the best.
