Sony brings PS4 titles to its on-demand PS Now service: God of War, WWE, more [Deal]

While Sony still doesn’t really have backwards compatibility like Xbox does, the PlayStation Now service does a half decent job of bringing a selection of digital releases and older titles to your PS4. The subscription-based program certainly isn’t as good as what Microsoft offers, but things are getting better. Along with a nice little temporary deal price on the subscriptions right now, Sony just announced a slew of PS4 games that are coming to the service…

The selection on PS Now isn’t bad but it has largely been limited to first party games and PS3-era releases. Today’s announcement brings some fantastic titles to the service from major publishers including Sony’s first party studios, 2K, Capcom and more.

We are seeing a range of newer games available across just about every genre. Here is a list of the new PlayStation 4 additions, all of which are available as of today for subscribers:

  • Killzone Shadow Fall
  • God of War 3 Remastered
  • Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
  • WWE 2K16
  • Tropico 5
  • Ultra Street Fighter IV
  • F1 2015
  • Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition
  • Evolve
  • MX vs ATV Supercross Encore
  • Resogun
  • Helldivers
  • Broken Age
  • Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition
  • Grim Fandango Remastered
  • Akiba’s Beat
  • Castlestorm Definitive Edition
  • Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky
  • Nidhogg
  • Super Mega Baseball

Sony also spent some time noting this brings the game total on PS Now to well over 500. With more than 100 publishers signed up we can also apparently expect more from 2K, Aksys, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Double Fine, Kalypso, Loot Interactive, MESSHOF, Metalhead, NIS America, Ripstone, SNK, THQ Nordic, XSEED and Zen Studios, among others.

While the on-demand game streaming on newer titles is nice, especially if you have already invested in the subscription, it is the older PS3 games that seem to bring the most value. The top 5 most popular PS3 games on the service this year so far go as follows: Red Dead Redemption, Mortal Kombat, WWE 2K15, Injustice: Gods Among Us and not surprisingly The Last of Us.

Sony is bringing back its $9.99 introductory offer on the first month, or $99.99 for an entire year from now through September 22nd. But I highly suggest going for the free 7-day trial to give it a spin first. Just keep in mind “that in order to take advantage of the $9.99 intro offer, you will need to purchase that directly, as the 7-day trial will transition into the standard monthly subscription.”
