We rely on our smartphones and other mobile devices too much these days to have accessories that only get us an extra few hours of battery. While you may already have an external battery pack lying around, iClever’s new BoostCell Eco Power Pack sports a 15,000mAh battery to keep all your gadgets charged.

Aside from a few, most power packs are pretty much the same, with the defining characteristics falling on how much juice it holds, durability and charging speed. On all three, the iClever BoostCell Eco has no issues differentiating itself from competitors and comes in at a $35 price tag.

With 15,000mAh of power, the iClever BoostCell Eco is definitely on the larger side of external battery packs. All this juice technically nets you over seven full iPhone 7 charges. But more practically speaking, it means that even when relying on 15,000mAh the battery pack as my main phone charger throughout the day,  I only had to recharge it around 3 times this week.

Now with its large battery capacity comes an equally large form-factor. While it isn’t the largest external battery pack I’ve used, it certainly isn’t the most portable. In terms of actually build quality, the battery is wrapped in a lightweight soft plastic that has a premium feel to it.

Of course, none of this matters if the power pack can’t deliver on equally-impressive charge times. Each of the iClever power pack’s two USB charging ports output at 2.4A for a combined 5V, meaning they’ll have no issues powering up your device quickly. I’ve often found that with external battery packs, the convenience of portable charging comes at the tradeoff of slow speeds. While it wasn’t as fast as a 12W charger, it was noticeably faster than my previous daily driver.

For recharging the power pack, you’ll find a 5V Lightning and Micro USB port. While either can be used to independently to charge the internal battery, combining both at once provides a more rapid recharge time.

One downside though is that for its capacity, I would have definitely loved to see a USB-C charging port. Without one, it feels almost overpowered for just powering smartphones and other mobile devices.

Ultimately, if you’re in the market for a power pack to accompany you through long days, long trips or flights, the iClever BoostCell Eco is absolutely up the task. If you’re in need of something more lightweight for casual use or to net you an extra hour or two of power at the end of the day, this may not be the best option.

At a $35 list price, there are less expensive 15,000mAh power packs on the market, but opting for iClever’s version brings with it fast charging and a premium build quality.
