Datorbox blends vintage style and 4K gaming in a unique VR rig

These days, having a killer gaming setup isn’t enough. It needs to look the part as well. And while you can find everything needed to build a monster machine at home on Amazon, going the third-party route may deliver the type of irreplaceable look you may be craving.

Love Hultén is doing just that for a limited number of gamers. Fifty to be exact. Its new Datorbox compact gaming system offers everything needed for VR and 4K content in a small form factor. Vintage styling bucks the latest trends of LED lighting and see-through cases for a timeless look that is sure to standout at the next Homebrew Computer Club meeting…

There’s a lot to love about the Datorbox, and at just 50 units being made available, it’s likely to sell out quick. A retro-styled enclosure is highlighted by a front-panel that displays six big bulb-caps, a USB port and port button. A Saturn punchout design on top allows for airflow, along with cutouts on the sides. You’ll find the remainder of Datorbox’s I/O on the backside.

An Intel Core i5 or i7 processor powers this desktop computer alongside a Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU that can handle both 4K and VR content. Much like Apple’s iMacs, you’ll find dual hard and solid-state drives inside Datorbox. This Fusion-style setup is made to cut down on load times without charging the full price that comes from using flash storage only.

The back reveals four more USB ports (oddly a few of which are 2.0), HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort out, plus headphone/mic and VR ports. It does ship with Bluetooth and 802.11ac radios, as well. Datorbox weighs in at just over six-pounds all together and does not ship with any other peripherals. Good luck finding a monitor that matches the throwback styling of this PC.

Interested parties will first have to fill out the order form on this landing page and then pray that enough units are available. Pricing starts at $2,500 with case colors coming in orange, emerald green or a custom design. You can also choose from a marble white pattern or brass plate on the front.

If you’re looking to build your own custom PC there are plenty of unique case options available on Amazon. You won’t find hardly any that rival Datorbox in vintage style but there are a few cool designs out there none-the-less.
