Shinola launches premium audiophile Canfield over-ear leather headphones

There are many premium headphones on the market. Some more budget-friendly, like the Beyerdynamic we covered earlier today, and others not so budget-friendly. It really comes down to what quality you want to get out of your headphones. Higher priced headphones generally give a better experience, in both audio clarity/quality and experience.

Shinola makes premium headphones at premium prices, but you truly get what you pay for here. Shinola started as a watch factory in Detroit and has been in the US for several years. They have several different factories for their different avenues they manufacture in. Their leather factory is 12,000 square feet so they can produce the highest quality leather possible. Why am I talking about factories and leather you ask? Because when Shinola makes headphones, they use their hand-crafted leather to make the ear cups, headband, and more.

This premium material use is brought to their latest release, the Canfield over-ear headphones. The Canfield headphones use top grain leather and stainless steel components. This means you’re going to get the most premium experience when listening to audio, and you’ll love every second of it. It also ensures that the headphones will last for years when other plastic-built models will break sooner.

If you do happen to find a set of headphones that use leather, it’s normally only on the ear cup. Shinola uses it everywhere, and that means you get an even better experience. The Canfield has two-shades of leather wrapped around the headband so that way it breaks in over time, becoming more and more comfortable.

The Canfield headphones use custom 50mm dynamic transducers for an amazing listening experience. The earpads are memory foam encased in lambskin so they’re extremely comfortable for long listening sessions.

Speaking of audio quality, each and every pair of headphones are tuned and balanced in their Detroit factory. This means that each pair of headphones is balanced to work well together. Many companies just grab two drivers, slap them in each ear cup, and ship headphones. This is what causes unbalanced listening experiences, and Shinola doesn’t want their customers to have this. They say that “Shinola Sound Signature is rich, warm, and expansive.” For more information on the audio portion of the headphones, just head below for the entire spec sheet.
