With Amazon’s latest release of devices, the company has more ways than ever to outfit your home with Alexa-enabled speakers. But for those wishing they could chat with their favorite digital assistant on the road, there aren’t as many options. Muse is looking to change that by offering a full range of voice-controlled functionality in an easy to use and cost-effective solution fit for just about any vehicle.

This won’t be the first time that we’ve seen Alexa hit the road, as other companies have raced to fit the digital assistant into car-compatible packages in the past. But what makes Muse so enticing is its easy-to-use nature and relatively low $50 price.

Based around a low-profile, Bluetooth device, Muse is said to be the “first pure Amazon Alexa-enabled device for your car.” The device can be placed anywhere in your ride thanks to an adhesive backing and can summon the digital assistant with just your voice.

Getting Muse up and running is a pretty straightforward process and all you’ll need to bring voice control to your car is a smartphone with a data plan and an audio input (if your ride lacks Bluetooth). Once paired to your Amazon account and your phone’s cellular connection, Muse is ready to go.

You’ll find that aside from its looks, Muse isn’t that much different than your typical Alexa-enabled device. It can play music and podcasts, get directions, tell jokes, or just about anything else your home-bound Echo can achieve. Adopters of home automation will be thrilled to know that it can also interact with your Alexa-compatible devices as well, so your garage door, lights and more can be controlled on the road with just your voice.

Muse does have the upper hand compared to some other Alexa devices as the company says that the in-car device supports hands-free calling. One downside with Muse however is that it currently lacks Spotify integration, so you’ll have to rely on Amazon Music for all your commute tunes.

With Automakers vying to get a leg up on the competition by integrating technology into their newest releases, it should only be a matter of time before we see Amazon’s assistant built-in. But for those looking to bring voice control to their existing rides, Muse can be picked up at 20% off its retail price at $40 over on Indiegogo. Muse’s campaign has already brought in $28,000, beating its original goal by over 87%. And while it may not arrive in time for the holidays, delivery is estimated for sometime in December.

With its low price and decked-out feature list, Muse may just be the most intuitive and cost-effective way to talk with the digital assistant until Amazon itself brings Alexa into your vehicle.
