Following months of testing and preparation, SpaceX just successfully launched its largest rocket yet, the Falcon Heavy. And while some fans are celebrating the impressive feat of space engineering, others have been busy recreating the new flagship rocket out of LEGO. Complete with detachable boosters, decals and more, the model is sure to be a huge hit with fans of LEGO and space alike.

In what has been one of the most eagerly awaited launches in recent years, SpaceX’s 3-stage Falcon Heavy just took to the skies on the maiden voyage of the reusable rocket system. And what better way to memorialize the awe-inspiring feat than with a massive LEGO model.

Stemming from creator Newman’s building prowess, the Falcon Heavy stacks up to one of the most intricate and accurate renditions of a spacecraft we’ve seen to date. The final model comes out to over 3-feet tall and employs some well-thought out techniques to achieve the real-life version’s iconic form-factor.

Unlike last year’s Saturn V Rocket LEGO kit, the Falcon Heavy uses a stud-heavy design that heavily draws on the classic LEGO space sets.  This design gives the Falcon Heavy a retro look long forgotten by recent LEGO models.

Aside from just being a display-worthy model, the Falcon Heavy is packed with details and features to make it an even more interesting build. Most notably, the rocket’s 3 boosters are detachable just like the real ship and also feature SpaceX iconography.

A sturdy, dimply stand then holds the giant model in place, cementing its piece as an ultimate collectors item for fans. And just likes the real-world inspiration, the brick-built rendition even includes a miniature model of Elon Musk’s Midnight Cherry Tesla Roadster.

Right now the SpaceX Falcon Heavy is currently making its way though the ropes of its LEGO Ideas campaign. Having just launched under a week ago, the massive 3-stage rocket ship kit is on its way to amassing the required 10,000 supporters. But as hot of a topic as SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy is and with over 400 days remaining, the should have no problem getting the support it needs.

This is a model I’ll be certainly keeping my eye on as it climbs towards the possibility of someday hitting store shelves.
