Amazon Whole Foods Black Friday

If you haven’t heard about Amazon and Whole Foods, I’m not sure where you’ve been the past several months. But, Amazon owns Whole Foods, and the online shopping giant is giving its Prime members special discounts at retail locations. What’s the latest discount? Well, 5% back for Prime members who use the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa, of course.

Amazon, in partnership with Chase, is now offering Prime Reward Visa cardholders 5% back when shopping at whole foods. Previously the 5% back was reserved for just when you shopped at Amazon.com. It’s great to see Amazon expanding its Prime benefits beyond the internet.

If you’re a Prime Rewards Visa member and not an Amazon Prime member (which, you really should change that if so), you’ll receive 3% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases from now on. 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drug stores, and 1% back on everything else.

Amazon puts no caps on the rewards earned so you can shop until your heart is content at all stores, especially Amazon and Whole Foods.

There is no annual credit card fee, no foreign transaction fee, and with the bonuses, you’ll be getting each year, the rewards will just keep on stacking up.

Benefits of Amazon Prime Reward Visa card:

  • New – 5% Back on Whole Foods Market purchases with an eligible Prime membership; otherwise 3% Back
  • 5% Back at Amazon.com with an eligible Prime membership; otherwise 3% Back
  • 2% Back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores
  • 1% Back on all other purchases
  • No cap on rewards earned
  • Rewards never expire and are redeemable, as long as their account is open, on hundreds of millions of products at Amazon.com
  • No foreign transaction fees when traveling abroad or for cross-border shopping
  • No annual credit card fee
  • Zero fraud liability
  • Benefits including travel and purchase protections, as well as 24/7 concierge service, through Visa Signature

Maybe you don’t already shop at Whole Foods, but you have the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card. If that’s you, then you are exactly who Amazon is targeting here with the extra cash back. Amazon hopes to entice more buyers into its local stores by giving the larger reward bonuses for shopping.

Will the extra rewards here get you into your local Whole Foods to start buying groceries? Amazon really is pushing to get more people into stores as seen on Black Friday, when the online shopping giant gave some of its best Alexa devices discounts at Whole Foods, rather than online or elsewhere.
