What the Golf? is a new game from Triband studios out of Copenhagen. Set for release later this year, this new indie golf game is really everything but a golf game and looks completely ridiculous in the best way possible.

All games are Golf. Soccer is Golf. Horses are Golf. In What the Golf?, everything is golf.

This has to be one of the most hilarious takes on the sport we have ever seen. One level might have you putting into a toaster, or a soccer net or maybe the ball is a horse, or maybe you go to take your shot and the entire character flings off the side of the cliff and dies instead. Those are a few less ridiculous examples to give you an idea of what we are talking about here.

We have seen a number of interesting golf-based games that take the generally very serious sport into fantastical and even odd settings, but none quite as epic as What the Golf?.

Golf Story is one of those games that takes the sport in a completely different direction and it currently sits atop the best sellers list on the Nintendo eShop. While that game isn’t overly comparable, we could see the wacky gameplay and colorful visuals of What the Golf? being somewhat of an indie darling or even more popular than that.

Goats are also golf, if you were wondering:

The tag line for the now more than fully funded crowd sourced campaign goes as follows, “Golf is boring, help us fix it”. After making an appearance at GDC 2018, it looks as though What the Golf? is set for release in Q2 2018.

As for platforms, the PC, Mac and Linux versions sound like they are a for sure, but details on iOS and Android ports are thin. It does look as though it could make it to mobile around the same time, and clearly, it really should.

And if you haven’t seen it already, the announcement trailer for What the Golf may be short, but it is certainly a must-see:

Oh and when the developers got challenged on Twitter to turn Clustertruck into golf, they did just that:
