Following yesterday’s release of an all-new hospital kit, LEGO is debuting yet another new set, this time focused on bringing some joy to your brick-built city. As an expansion of its line of Creator Expert kits, today LEGO has announced it’ll be releasing the very first roller coaster set. Comprised of 4,124 pieces, the kit packs extensive details alongside being a fully functional coaster replica.
LEGO’s line of Creator Expert kits have long been fan favorites thanks to their complex structures, intricate details and display-worthiness. Recently, the sets have been focused on bringing amusement park fun into your LEGO collection, with today’s newly announced kit preceded by a brick-built Ferris Wheel and Carousel.
The new Creator Expert Roller Coaster functions similarly to a real-life coaster thanks to its chain-lift drive system and gravity-driven track. It includes other authentic features like a ticket booth, cotton candy cart, concession stand and other things you’d expect to find at an amusement part. The coaster itself includes two trains with functioning lap bars and room for six minifigures.
Speaking of minifigures, the new coaster kit comes packed with 11 different figures, all of which perfectly fit in to the amusement park theme. You’ll get food vendors, ride attendants as well as a variety of characters to enjoy the coaster and rest of the attractions. Eight of these figures feature reversible heads so you can choose which emotions your patrons are showing off.
The set is also privy to a few brand new LEGO elements which are headlined by a new rail slope piece, allowing the coaster to pack all of the twists and turns it does. You’ll also find a new bow brick alongside a variety of new plant-elements to cover your park in.
While not included in the box, the Creator Expert Roller Coaster packs the ability to be upgraded by LEGO’s line of BOOST and Power Functions kits. Many of the lineup’s kits include this functionality, which bring motorized features to the brick-built creations. In this case, you’ll be able to send your figures on a ride much like an authentic coaster.
The latest LEGO Creator Expert kit is slated to hit store shelves come June 1st, so you won’t have to wait too longer for this brick-built coaster.
It launches with a $380 retail price. And given that it stacks up to over 4,100 pieces, it enters the lineup of kits with a pretty solid part-per-dollar ratio. The 11 minifigures certainly help justify the higher price tag alongside the kit’s novel functionality.
