HP refreshes its Omen 15 laptop with a faster, smaller, and more powerful design

Last year HP showed that it was putting more of an effort into its gaming lineup with its laptops that weighed over 10-pounds. A move that showed HP was not willing to sacrifice raw power for portability, it was something that many gaming enthusiasts would cheer for. While the HP Omen 15 is does not weigh 10-pounds, it is packed with power at a price that seems to be a good value.

HP’s Omen line-up grew today with the addition of a headset that cools your ears, a mechanical keyboard, a mouse that features an aluminum cord to prevent kinking, a backpack that stores up to a 17-inch laptop, and more. While these items are notable, the refreshed Omen 15 takes the cake.

The first thing you will notice about the Omen 15 is the design. While it is smaller than its predecessor, it still features an aggressive design with large vents on the back and bottom that allow it to stay cool by pulling cool air in and pushing hot air out. The new form-factor also features smaller bezels around the display, a trend that seems to be catching on in other laptops like Huawei’s MateBook X Pro.

The new laptop benefits from Intel i5 and i7+5 processors, up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and graphics card options that are VR-ready. Customers are also able to opt for faster storage options like hybrid hard drives that feature a bit of solid state storage, full solid state drives or hard drives that are paired with Intel Octane memory.

The latest iteration of the OMEN 15 Laptop is an even sleeker powerhouse that gives gamers enhanced portability, while improving the hardware and features they crave. Engineered for gaming performance, designed for immersion, and crafted for expansion, this laptop hits all the marks gamers are looking for in a device, delivering top-notch experiences on-the-go or at home.

As the name implies, the Omen 15 features a 15.6-inch 1080p display with refresh rates of 60 or 144Hz. Customers are given the option of configuring their Omen with a 4k display, but the higher resolution comes at the cost of a capped refresh rate of 60Hz.

HP touts that this laptop is user expandable with easy-to-remove Phillips-head screws and that give you access to both memory and storage. A move that likely sits well with gamers since it allows them to save money upfront and upgrade at anytime using budget-friendly 3rd party memory.

The HP Omen 15 will be available on July 29th and pricing will start at $979.
