LEGO unveils ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Newt BrickHeadz figure ahead of upcoming film

Fresh off of this week’s release of the new Hogwarts Castle, LEGO is back with another round of Harry Potter-themed releases. This time though we’ll be getting two new BrickHeadz figures from the Fantastic Beasts series. Headlined by the daring protagonist Newt Scamander, he is joined by the fearsome Gellert Grindelwald. You’ll find all the details down below.

With the next chapter in Newt’s journey right around the corner, these BrickHeadz will be out just in time for The Crimes of Grindelwald’s big-screen debut come November. Given that a few kits from the upcoming film are already available for purchase, it’s interesting that LEGO has opted to delay these to a later date.

Luckily for those looking to bring some of the magic of Hogwarts home without picking up the massive new release, LEGO’s latest Harry Potter builds take the form of its collectible BrickHeadz. Each clock in around the usual 130-piece part count and combine a number of unique techniques to pull of the designs.

We previously took a hands-on look at the brick-built Harry Potter figures already on the market, and found them to be some of the more charming and well-crafted releases in the BrickHeadz lineup. The two newest releases continue that trend with the same attention to detail and well-thought out parts usage.

Both of the new figures include a prominent new printed element in the form of unique formal wear patterns. Grindelwald is lucky enough to receive a new printed mustache piece, but by the looks of it those are the only new parts this time around. Even still, they are pretty exceptional and stand out from some of the more recent releases.

There’s no telling if the two Fantastic Beasts figures will be sold individually or if they’ll be packaged together like past BrickHeadz releases. Regardless, they’ll still each fetch the standard $10 price tag that nearly all of the other figures carry. Odds are high we’ll be seeing these come early October with the rest of the expected fall 2018 LEGO lineup.

Considering that we’ve been getting a new pair of BrickHeadz just about every week for the past few months, these have been the most noteworthy in my opinion. They’re certainly the first additions from the latest releases that I know for sure I’ll be picking up at launch.

With a few more weeks until the latest batch of LEGO kits hit store shelves, who are you hoping makes their brick-built debut in a new BrickHeadz figure? Let us know in the comments below or over at @9to5Toys on Twitter.
