Toylander recreates 1948 Series 1 Land Rover with miniature electric style

Toy Lander announces Land Rover 1

If you’ve been following along at our sister site, Electrek, you know that the inventory of affordable electric transportation is expanding every day. Not to be left out, we’re seeing more options aimed at children as well. Everyone knows the Power Wheels brand. But a new alternative from the United Kingdom has caught our eye. The Toylander 1948 Series 1 Land Rover delivers iconic styling in a kid-focused build. But as you might guess, it doesn’t come cheap.

Toylander 1948 Series 1 Land Rover

Toylander has been around for over 30 years. It began as a company called ‘Real Life Toys’ with a focus on creating scaled-down versions of popular classic vehicles. From the beginning, they’ve focused on electric recreations but it wasn’t until it turned its eyes to Land Rover that Toylander really started making noise.

Our faithful tribute is packed with realistic features to delight your learner driver, including forward/reverse gears, speed control, footbrake, handbrake, lights, folding windscreen, opening tailgate, pneumatic tyres and horn. The tough monocoque body is spacious enough for one adult and two children, with a safe top speed of 5mph/8kph.

The Toylander 1948 Series 1 Land Rover delivers incredible attention to detail as it recreates the iconic rugged vehicle. From the seafoam green coloring to a beautifully recreated front grill. You’ll be able to choose a custom number plate with your purchase, as well.

Dual electric motors power this four wheeler that’s capable of pushing up to 5MPH. That’s not going to fly around the neighborhood, but then again, it is made for kids.

Interior made to recreate the original Series 1 Land Rover

When diving into Toylander’s latest recreation, it’s clear that it put an emphasis on the interior. A full dashboard and exact replica of the original steering wheel are highlights. But the folding windshield and a working old school footbrake system really take it over the top.

That’s not to say that Toylander ignored the body. I love the cream-colored hubcaps that are wrapped with real air-filled tires. Simply put, this is a killer recreation of one of Land Rover’s most iconic vehicles.

DIY build or have it shipped

Toylander offers the 1948 Series 1 Land Rover in two configurations. You can elect to have it shipped to your door completely ready to roll. Alternatively, there are a variety of do it yourself kits that may be more intriguing to the weekend warrior. The second option also allows builders to tackle a custom paint job.

The fully assembled version ships for £4,150.00, which currently works out to around $5,400. DIY kits start at around half the price, but various add-ons to get to the fully assembled version hardly save much money.
