The Cybic Legend is a beautiful bike with Alexa, 3G connectivity, and a touchscreen

Cybic Legend Alexa Bike

It only took a few weeks of using Alexa to make me want everything I own to offer some sort of integration with Amazon’s ever-popular voice assistant. Prior to adding around fifteen Echo Dots throughout my home, I would have seen something like Cybic’s Alexa-equipped Legend bicycle as sort of ridiculous, but now I actually want one.

In addition to Alexa, the Cybic Legend also packs impressive features like Wi-Fi, 3G, and a touchscreen. All of this is put into what I consider a sleek-looking design that I would love to ride along the trails around my home.

Technology

Thanks to the pairing of Alexa and a built-in touchscreen, Cybic Legend can offer voice-based turn-by-turn GPS accompanied by performance metrics like speed, distance traveled, and more. I currently use a bike mount to keep my phone in place and open an app to keep this sort of data at my fingertips.

If you like to listen to music while riding, Legend has you covered. While specific details are lacking, supposedly the new bike packs an HD music player for keeping the tunes going while you pedal. This could mean that it has a built-in speaker or uses Bluetooth to connect to a pair of headphones, a feature that I mimic by taking my smartphone and favorite headphones along.

While in some cases I can opt to use Siri handsfree for controlling my smart home or handling other miscellaneous queries, I really want to have Alexa on my bike. Well, I guess it comes down to how good the microphones are. If they are even remotely like what I have experienced with my Echo Dots, the Legend will be miles ahead of the experience that I have had with “Hey Siri!” not working.

Pricing & Availability

Here’s the kicker, as of right now, the plan is for Cybic Legend bicycles to be sold in at Halfords specialty shops throughout the UK starting in Summer 2019. Since I live in the US, I find this quite disappointing as this is piece of tech gear that I would, quite literally, love to take for a spin. Pricing information has yet to be released, but I expect it to be on the high-end.

Along with a whole slew of other tech, Cybic’s new Legend bike made its official debut at CES 2019. With the expected announcements of 8K TVs, smart home accessories, and the like, it is always refreshing to see something I had not even considered to be a possibility.
