Marvel’s updated plans for phase three of its cinematic universe + comicbook goodies

Marvel’s Phase 3 has yet to begin but it’s already getting schedule changes. Today the studio announced that Ant Man will get a sequel with a release date of July 6, 2018.

Following our hero’s debut adventure in this summer’s “Ant-Man,” Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 with Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.

The film will now occupy the release slot originally taken by Black Panther, which has now moved forward to February 16, 2018. Then the Captain Marvel movie will shift from November of that year to March 2019.

The complete Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three schedule now looks like this:

  • May 6, 2016: Captain America: Civil War
  • November 4, 2016: Doctor Strange
  • May 5, 2017: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • July 28, 2017: Spider-Man
  • November 3, 2017: Thor: Ragnarok
  • February 16, 2018: Blank Panther
  • May 4, 2018: Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1
  • July 6, 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • March 8, 2019: Captain Marvel
  • May 3, 2019: Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2
  • July 12, 2019: Inhumans
  • May 1, 2020: Unknown Marvel Film
  • July 10, 2020: Unknown Marvel Film
  • November 6, 2020: Unknown Marvel Film

Marvel also announced today that in celebration of 4 days of comic-con you can get a Marvel Unlimited subscription for $9.99 a month between 10/8 and 10/11 and get 4 free gifts (above).

Funko, the makers of the ever so plush superhero figures, has teamed up with Marvel to produce a subscription box service for the “true believers” out there. The Marvel Collector corps will ship the debut box in April. It will have Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and include a 6-inch Iron Man Hulkbuster Pop vinyl figure that’s only available through this subscription service (shown below)

The offer has a value of over $50 for only $25 per box and each one will ship every two months (Marvel’s Ant-Man will be featured in the June box).

The box service has 2 levels: the basic Collector level and the Founder level. Fans who sign up for the Founders program, which includes a six-box subscription, will receive an exclusive Founder Statue on the 12-month anniversary of their first box shipment.
