Pro Tools First-new-01

Avid, makers of one of, if not, the industry leading recording apps, have announced a brand new free version of Pro Tools. Known as Pro Tools First and aimed at newcomers, the slimmed down digital audio workstation will be made available for free in the coming months.

Avid Fast Track Solo audio interface with Pro Tools Express $86 shipped (Reg. $179)

Amazon has the Avid Fast Track Solo audio interface with Pro Tools Express for $85.95 shipped. That’s $93 or 52% under the original listing, about $60 under the average selling price, $8 under Guitar Center’s currently discounted listing and the lowest we’ve seen.

It has a mic pre-amp (with phantom power), a 1/4 inch instrument input and ships with a download for Pro Tools Express. It records at up to 24-bit/48kHz and is designed to work with Mac/PC and iOS devices (may require a Lightning to 30-pin adapter which is sold separately). It can be a great introduction to industry standard recording software as well as a nice home recording starter kit at a fraction of the price of Pro Tools 11. Pro Tools is the top selling recording software on Amazon and just about all of Avid’s hardware receive positive reviews.
