As we continue to cover companies that manufacture in the United States, a recurring theme has come forward. Many of these brands do not have the resources of larger companies, while that may have some downfalls, it also pushes them to think outside of the box and do more with less.

A lot of the products that we feature in Small States have a simplistic design that achieve the same goal as much more complex offerings. Generally, these solutions are more complementary of the minimalistic design found in many household products.

One Los Angeles-based startup that we recently came across is a wonderful example of this. Feltmark manufactures beautifully simple lights that manage to look stylish without much in the way of extras. Southwest Airlines is offering one-way flights to and from a variety of locations in the United States and Puerto Rico starting at $73 through tomorrow night. There are a few stipulations to this deal but if you’re looking for travel between early March and June 3rd, we’d recommend browsing Southwest’s offerings. They have flights to many warm weather destinations, such as Tampa, FL, San Diego, CA and Panama City Beach, FL. This is a great opportunity to grab discounted flights for Spring Break or Spring Training, just make sure you book a flight home… or not 🙂

The key details:

  • 14 day advance purchase required (i.e. purchases today are eligible to fly on March 12)
  • Tickets are non-refundable
  • Travel must take place on Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday
    • Florida, Nevada and Puerto Rico on Tuesday/Wednesday

There are many ways to carry the smorgasbord of items we carry on a daily basis while traveling or going to work. Sometimes though, it’s the smaller things that don’t find a home in your bag or suitcase. With many larger offerings already on the market, made-by-hand San Francisco manufacturer Waterfield Designs has introduced a new Padded Gear Pouch specifically for carrying all the smaller items.
