Our top pick from the sale is the Canon SL1 DSLR, which is available as a body only purchase for $299.99. Interested in picking up a lens as well, the camera + 18-55mm lens kit in white can be had for $349.99. Both of these deals beat our previous mentions by as much as $14 and are the best current prices. For comparison, the body alone retails for $100 more at Amazon where it is rated 4.7/5 stars.

The official Canon online store is offering a refurbished Canon EOS Rebel T3i with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit for $384 with free shipping. That matches the lowest historical price we have ever seen for this refurbished camera that typically sells for $480. As a further pricing comparison, Amazon is charging $579 for this same combination in new condition. It should be noted that Canon refurbished units have received great reviews, with most buyers saying the plain shipping box was the only hint that the item wasn’t brand new. The T3i features a DIGIC 4 Image Processor and an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor, full HD video recording, live View shooting, wireless flash photography and even a vari-angle 3.0-inch LCD monitor.

Photogs and critics generally agree the Canon T3i is a terrific entry level DSLR, though may not be a compelling upgrade for folks with a T2i or newer. Although, at this price point it is hard to do better. If you’re graduating from entry-level cameras, you may want to look towards the Canon 60D for a more advanced step-up.

It is the #1 best selling DSLR camera on Amazon and is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by over 900 reviewers. expand full story

Canon has officially announced the successor to the popular 60D Digital SLR camera.  The Canon 70D DSLR was unveiled by the New York company early this morning with a “Dual Pixel CMOS AF system for instant and precise focusing of video as well as still images.”  This new focusing system takes the previously mediocre video capabilities of the 60D to the next level with the “Dual Pixel CMOS AF” system. This technology allows the 70D to shoot video in near-camcorder quality thanks to “shorter focusing times, exceptional tracking performance and smoother autofocusing during videocanon-70D-lens-new shooting.” Built-in WiFi connectivity allows photogs to easily share content and even control their camera via a mobile application.  Further features include a new 20.2 megapixel APS-C Canon CMOS sensor, 3″ smudge-resistant vari-angle touch Screen clear view LCD monitor II, and high speed continuous shooting up to 7.0 fps.

The Canon 70D is now available for preorder (Body-only / Lens bundles) from Amazon starting at $1,199 with shipment expected in September. Amazon expects demand to outstrip supply. Orders will be fulfilled on a first-come first-serve basis. For those interested, the announcement of the 70D has pushed the 60D down to its lowest historical price of $599 (body only).
