Less than two weeks ago, Apple began offering its education customers modest iPad discounts, but now Best Buy has stepped up and basically made them irrelevant. The new Best Buy student deals that launched yesterday extend a $50 discount to all iPad Air and Retina iPad mini models, which is up to two and a half times as much as Apple’s edu pricing.

You’ll need to furnish a .edu email address to qualify for these Best Buy discounts, but once you receive your unique coupon code you can choose to make your purchase online or at any retail location. Of course, we recommend following us closely to stay up with all the best iPad deals, but if there aren’t any current deals and you’re in desperate need of an iPad, then Best Buy’s edu pricing is likely your best bet.

Other promotions include $150 off Macs and 30% off Incase MacBook accessories.

Check out the full list of our iPad deals we found today. expand full story

expiredSave up to $300 on all current generation iMacs w/.EDU email address ($150 w/o), starting below $1,000 shipped

As part of its 4-day Memorial Day Sale, Best Buy is taking $150 off each of the current generation 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac desktop computers, which brings the entry-level iMac down to $1,149.99 with free shipping. Customers with access to a .edu email address can save an EXTRA $150 by grabbing a unique promo code from this special page. That means you can get one of Apple’s newest desktop computers for under $1,000 with free shipping. Both of these discounts (Memorial Day $150 and .edu $150), can be applied to any of the standard configuration iMacs.

My recommendation? If you don’t have an edu email address just ask around and I’m sure you’ll be able to find a friend, family member, or co-worker who is willing to help you out. You just need the special promo code that Best Buy emails you to receive the extra $150 discount.

Don’t forget you can also use the edu discount to save $150 on the newest version MacBook Airs.
