DualShock 4 Stories July 17, 2014

Gaming accessory maker Nyko has just launched its new PlayStation 4 Power Pak. The small, light weight add-on attaches to the back of a DualShock 4 to double the controller’s regular battery life.

It connects via the Micro USB connection along the top of the controller and uses two small pegs that lock into the screw holes on the back to hold it firmly in place. It features a pass-through USB port which allows for simultaneous charging of both the Power Pak and the controller with a single cable.

While it does appear that the Power Pak could both get in the way of comfortably holding the controller and could add some additional weight, Nyko seems to be pretty sure that’s not the case. The company’s director of marketing, Chris Arbogast, said “It’s lightweight and does not impede gameplay or ergonomics, enabling users to extend their gaming sessions.”
