Super Mario Maker’s playable title screen is loaded with awesome secrets

After some pretty amazing looking level creations, the ability to create stages while seamlessly switching between 4 different titles, and some amiibo support, Super Mario Maker has certainly caught our attention. Set to release just around the corner now, reviewers have begun to dig in to early copies and have noticed some sweet little easter eggs hidden on the title screen.

Inspired by Mario Paint and Super Mario World, the opening screen has Mario traversing a typical course with the Super Mario Maker title overlay on top. If you touch the letters a number of playful, Nintendo-style animations play out including a sweet Wario reference on the M, a hidden cache of coins in the R, space ships, helmets, bouncy things and you can even hatch Mario a Yoshi.

Here’s a great video from GameXplain showing them off:

Super Mario Maker releases on September 11th and Prime members can pre-order it for $49.99 shipped (Reg. $60). An even more notable deal than some of the other early Prime deals considering how rarely first part Nintendo games go on sale.

You can learn more about Mario Maker from our E3 coverage and here are a few amazing levels that were created for the Nintendo World Championships 2015:

expiredKiller Xbox One bundle: 500GB console + extra controller + Xbox Live Gold + extra game for $349 ($495 value)

At the end of last week Microsoft announced that for a week it’d throw in a free game (up to $60 in value) with every Xbox One console purchase. Well, that promo has officially kicked in and a massive bundle from Amazon is making it an even sweeter deal:

Right now Amazon has the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle ($350 value) plus an EXTRA wireless controller ($60 value), 3-Month Xbox Live Membership ($25 value) and an additional game of your choosing (up to $60 value) all for just $349 with free shipping. I try to keep my posts professional, but damn that’s seriously a bonkers deal.

Make sure you choose your additional game from this list and add it to your shopping cart along with the bundle to get it for free.

Microsoft blew the doors off E3 last week by announcing Xbox 360 backwards compatibility coming to Xbox One, the new Elite controller and game previews including Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. There’s never been a better time to buy an Xbox One and there’s never been a better bundle to buy than this one.

Ratchet & Clank is coming to PS4 with impressive next gen visuals and a brand new arsenal

With the biggest event on the gaming calendar about to kick-off on Sunday, more and more exciting game announcements are starting to drop. Today we get the reveal of a new Ratchet & Clank game coming to PS4, and it looks gorgeous.

While you’re likely already thinking, here’s another HD remake, and to some degree it is, but it looks like Insomniac is going the extra distance to make it much more than that. Already known for its amazing visuals, reminiscent of Disney or Pixar films, Ratchet has never looked as good as he does on Sony’s next gen console.

While very much based on the original PlayStation 2 classic and tied to the upcoming CG film release, Insomniac is adding in modern controls, several new planets to explore, both updated (and new) action sequences and more. You can expect more boss fights, additional gameplay with Clank, and a brand new arsenal along with some old favorites:

That means both new weapons and fan-favorite tools of destruction from the Ratchet & Clank Future series will fill out Ratchet’s kit. From the brand new Pixelizer (which transforms enemies into explosive 8-bit pixels) to franchise favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron

Unfortunately, Ratchet & Clank fans will have to wait until the Spring of next year to get their hands on it, but the pre-order is already up on Amazon with the bonus “Bouncer” weapon from Going Commando for $39.99 shipped.

You can see some direct feed gameplay action below and expect more at E3 2015 next week:
