expiredAmazon’s latest Echo Dot receives a temporary 40% discount, bringing it down to $30 shipped

Amazon is offering the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) for $29.99 shipped. That’s $20 off the typical rate there and is a match for the best standalone price Amazon has offered this year. If you’ve seen any of my Echo Dot Diary posts, you know how much I love these devices. Today’s deal makes it very cost-effective to add multi-room audio and smart home control throughout the home. I’m up to fifteen Echo Dots currently, and love using the Apple Music skill to play music everywhere. Rated 4.6/5 stars.

expiredExperience multi-room audio w/ three Echo Dots for the killer price of $70 shipped ($150 value)

Amazon is offering the 3-pack of Echo Dots for $69.97 shipped. Note: simply add three devices to your cart and the discount will be reflected at checkout. This deal is $80 off the typical rate there and beats the lowest price we have tracked by $2. If you’ve seen at least one of my Echo Dot Diary posts, you have a general idea of how much I love Alexa. With fifteen Echo Dots in my home, this deal is so good that I’m tempted to grab a few more as gifts or for even better multi-room audio coverage. Each day these devices help me turn lights on and off, change the temperature, toggle power on my projector, change inputs, volume, and channels on my TVs, and much more. Rated 4.6/5 stars.

expiredThis Echo + TP-Link Smart Plug combo will get you or someone else started w/ Alexa: $90 (save $35)

Amazon is offering the Echo with TP-Link Smart Plug Mini for $89.99 shipped. That’s $35 off the typical value and is the lowest price we’ve tracked. With 15+ Echo devices currently in my home, I’m a huge proponent of giving Alexa a shot. The main reason I switched away from HomeKit to Alexa is so I could expand my smart home for less, and boy am I happy that I did. At such a low price, today’s deal makes for a great way to get yourself or someone else started with Alexa. Rated 4.5/5 stars.

If you’re getting a bit tired of paying a premium for HomeKit-compatible smart devices, you’re not alone. For years I’ve been all-in on Apple’s ecosystem and until recently HomeKit was an area that thought I’d never switch away from. This all changed when I purchased a bunch of Echo Dots over the holidays and began dabbling with the skills that Alexa wields.

I absolutely love the simplicity offered by Alexa when it comes to voice control, but abhor the moment when I need to launch the Alexa app. In this guide, I’ll show you how I put IFTTT Webhooks to work so I could use iOS Shortcuts with Alexa-compatible devices. expand full story

Rated 4+ stars from nearly 70% of reviewers.

expiredGrab a Kids Edition Echo Dot + Fire 7 and if either break, Amazon will replace them: $130 shipped

Amazon is offering its Kids Edition Echo Dot + Fire 7 for $129.98 shipped. That’s around $20 off the typical rate when buying these individually and is one of the best prices we’ve tracked for this bundle. Bear in mind that the Echo Dot Kids Edition just dropped in price, making this deal $5 off when purchasing it and the Fire 7 Kids Edition one by one. Amazon knows that kids can be rough on gadgets. Instead of leaving that on parents’ plates, the company made durable devices with children specifically in mind. The company backs this up by offering a 2-year worry-free guarantee that covers everything, including accidental damage. Both items are rated 4+ stars.

Ever since I bought fifteen Echo Dots, I have been on the lookout for more ways that I can lean on Alexa for help throughout the day. As with any voice assistant, there are areas in which I find Alexa lacking. One major disappointment that is always on my mind is how some skills do not support multi-room audio. Even with occasional letdowns like this, I am happy with my investment in the Alexa ecosystem and want to share some of tips and tricks that I have learned on my adventure. expand full story

I love home automation. For so long I have bought a thing or two here and there to expand my smart home, but up to this point the high-cost of HomeKit-enabled accessories has kept me from going all-in on light bulbs and switches.

When I made the switch to using Alexa as my primary voice assistant, one of the deciding factors was how inexpensive it is to buy Alexa gear compared to competitors that support Apple HomeKit. Head below for a look at which lighting products I’m using to illuminate my home. expand full story

expiredEcho Connect turns your Alexa device into a phone for $28 shipped

Amazon offers its Echo Connect Home Phone Service Device for $27.99 shipped. Regularly $35, this is the first discount that we’ve tracked since it was announced back in September. This device converts your existing home phone into an Echo-compatible device, allowing you to take phone calls via your Alexa speakers. Nearly 50% of reviewers have left a 4+ star rating.

Amazon’s Echo Look first hit the scene last April as a fashion-forward product that also includes Alexa Voice Services. Since its release, Amazon has unveiled a handful of new Echo devices, seen increased competition from Google and Apple, and has added a host of new voice-enabled skills. During that busy stretch, we’ve not heard much about Echo Look and what’s ahead of the camera-wielding device.

Today, a new report from Digiday says that Vogue and GQ will now be testing new content in partnership with Echo Look. This is the first notable news that we’ve heard about this device in some time, which has seen meager sales to date. Bringing in two of the biggest names in fashion might change the course for ambiguous Alexa accessory.
