PlayStation Now drops to $100/yr (55% off), adds collection of Batman Arkham & LEGO titles

By way of the official PlayStation Blog, Sony has now announced that PlayStation Now will be available for a limited time at $99.99 a year starting tomorrow. At under $9 per month, that’s around 55% off the usual yearly fee. Existing PS Now subscribers will be able to purchase the deal in order to extend their membership for an additional 12 months.

For those that don’t already know, PS Now is Sony’s back catalog service that offers hundreds of digital PS3 titles on-demand for a yearly fee. While there were already several Warner Bros. games available, Sony has also announced some new titles from WBIE including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham Origins, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Kombat and F.E.A.R (Single-Player Campaign Mode). We are also getting some new LEGO games on top of LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes including The LEGO Movie Videogame, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, LEGO Batman: The Videogame and more.

While it may not be the back catalog service we all wanted from PS4, the addition of the new AAA titles and a nice price drop certainly adds some value here. You can opt for a 7-day free trial before going for the full year.

The WWE and NetherRealm Studios, makers of the Mortal Kombat series, have teamed up for a new free-to-play mobile fighter known as WWE Immortals. Built off the same engine running the company’s mobile Injustice: Gods Among Us title, it reimagines popular WWE characters and features familiar gameplay mechanics with a host of alternate classes for each fighter.

In today’s best game/app deals, the Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition is $30 shipped on 360, PS3, PS4 and Vita, Tomb Raider GOTY Edition dropped to $20 at Amazon, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Elite Edition for Mac is 50% off on the Mac App Store.

Microsoft is now taking preorders on an Xbox One bundled with a digital version of Titanfall and a one month Xbox Live membership for $500. It looks as though the company has also announced a price drop on the Xbox One going into effect this Friday, but in the UK only. Microsoft will drop £30 off the asking price, still £50 more than a PS4.

Best Buy is also offering 20% off on Nintendo eShop prepaid cards. You can grab a $20 card for $16, a $35 card for $28 or a $50 card for $40. The cards are good for games, videos and other things for use on Wii U and 3DS.

Today in gaming, the folks at NetherRealm Studios have dropped the brand new, free-to-play Batman: Arkham Origins iOS game, Gameloft’s Asphalt 8: Airborne goes free for iOS, Rovio drops 30 new levels for Bad Piggies, and the hit indie title Rogue Legacy releases on the Mac. Warner Bros. looked to Mortal Kombat (Flawless victory!) and Injustice: Gods Among Us developer NetherRealm Studios, to create its new Batman: Arkham Origins iOS brawler game. It features battles with some of the most well-known villains from this era in the story and will have “cross-platform unlocks” between the mobile and console versions of the game. Amazon is currently offering a Batman: Arkham Origins on console pre-order for $60 with a $10 in-store credit and the playable Deathstroke DLC.

The popular, highly rated, indie rogue-like title Rogue Legacy, is now available for Mac and Linux, developer Cellar Door Games announced today. Steam purchases (including those that previously purchased the game) now come along with a Mac version.

The first of which is Clash in the Clouds, an arena horde mode focusing on Infinite’s core combat mechanics that is now available for download.
