Netflix and Marvel are creating even more shows together for the fall and into 2017: Luke Cage, The Defenders and more

The San Diego Comic-Con is exploding in every direction with new titles and releases. Today, Netflix (alongside Marvel) has made a few announcements about its various superhero series. Luke Cage is due September 30th, and its trailer brings only about a minute and a half of Mike Colter fighting bad guys in hallways. The Iron Fist series’ release date is still to be announced, but its trailer showed off a hint of what’s to come there as well. Last but not least the preview for The Defenders leaves much more to the imagination but lets us know that as originally promised, Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Iron Fist will team up to take on bad guys in 2017.

Marvel’s updated plans for phase three of its cinematic universe + comicbook goodies

Marvel’s Phase 3 has yet to begin but it’s already getting schedule changes. Today the studio announced that Ant Man will get a sequel with a release date of July 6, 2018.

Following our hero’s debut adventure in this summer’s “Ant-Man,” Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 with Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.

The film will now occupy the release slot originally taken by Black Panther, which has now moved forward to February 16, 2018. Then the Captain Marvel movie will shift from November of that year to March 2019.

The complete Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three schedule now looks like this:

  • May 6, 2016: Captain America: Civil War
  • November 4, 2016: Doctor Strange
  • May 5, 2017: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • July 28, 2017: Spider-Man
  • November 3, 2017: Thor: Ragnarok
