Amazon offers the TiVo Roamio OTA HD DVR with lifetime service for $299.99 with free shipping. TiVo normally charges $49.99 for the Roamio OTA DVR box plus an additional $14.99 per month (with a 1-yr commitment) to keep it running. With this deal you pay $300 and never have to pay another dime for TiVo service. That means you’ll be forking over an additional $250 up-front, but you’ll recoup that in about 17 months by not having to pay the recurring $15 fee. This TiVo is designed to work with over-the-air HDTV antennas (Mohu/AmazonBasics are best bets).

It’ll record up to four shows at once and can store up to 75 hours of HD programming on its 500GB hard drive. It also features TiVo’s popular guide and suggestion interfaces, with unified search across TV and streaming apps including Netflix and Amazon Prime. You can even access TiVO from your iPhone or iPad with its iOS apps, but you’ll need the Stream box to actually watch TV and movies on your mobile devices. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t support cable cards.

expiredCut the cord in style by adding a TiVO Roamio OTA DVR to your setup for a one-time $300 fee

TiVo may not be as popular as it once was during the early part of this century, but the company’s gear is still one of the best ways to watch TV. Late last summer TiVo put out its Roamio OTA DVR system and since then reviewers continually called it the best over-the-air DVR system for cord cutters. However, most of the time that sentiment was followed by harsh criticism of TiVo’s monthly fees.

But now that barrier has been demolished with TiVo’s new pricing structure…

OTA Stories January 12, 2015

Starting in February, TiVo will be offering a new service for its users called OnePass that will strive to make binge watching easier than ever. The goal here is to put all of the available options of watching a complete season of a show in one place, in this instance the My Shows folder on your TiVo device. TiVo’s latest DVR devices have the ability to stream from services such as Netflix and Hulu Plus putting a larger supply of shows at your fingertips.

TiVo’s new OnePass service takes these options into account when searching out all the ways to catch up on a whole season. After investigating all of the streaming, live TV and other on demand options, TiVo will then list out the entire season within the My Shows folder. This is a particular strength of this offering in comparison to the Apple TV which does not feature universal search.

The new OnePass service from TiVo will be available in February on Roamio and TiVo Mini devices at no extra charge. Additionally, the service will also be available for via the iOS app next month and is expected for Android in March.
