Groupon offers the SONOS PLAY:1 Wireless Speaker in black or white for $189.99. Applying coupon code EXTRA15 at checkout drops the final price down to $161.49 shipped. Amazon currently offers the 2-Room SONOS PLAY:1 Streaming Music Starter Set for $349 with free shipping. It would cost you $400 if you were to buy both of the included speakers individually at their regular price of $199.99 each. Aside from a few random discounts and another Starter Set promotion, we rarely see any deals across the entire Sonos speaker lineup. According to Sonos, this discounted Starter Set will only be available for a “limited time”. Matched at SONOS.com, Best Buy, and Target.

PLAY:1’s high-quality sound is driven by two Class-D digital amplifiers, one tweeter, and one mid-woofer. When it comes to multi-room wireless speaker systems, the conversation has started and ended with SONOS in recent years. They’ve managed to create a fail-safe system that features a solid mesh network and offers a wide variety of streaming services. But as CES 2015 rapidly approaches LG has set its sights on SONOS with its new line of Music Flow wireless speakers.

But LG does offer a specific feature with one of its new speakers that even Sonos cannot claim….

Several retailers are offering free gift cards worth $20 to $50 with the purchase of Sonos speakers and accessories. We recommend going with Amazon because it’s generally much easier to find a worthwhile use for your free gift card and it has extended this promo to the largest number of Sonos products.

At face value these discounts may not seem Black Friday worthy but keep in mind that we don’t see Sonos products discounted too often and we aren’t aware of any other holiday promotions.

Here’s how the Amazon deal breaks down: expand full story

Sonos has announced today that it is bringing previously European-only streaming service Deezer to the United States, wrapped in a new service dubbed Deezer Elite. Deezer is known for its high resolution streaming of over 35 million songs, utilizing a format of music known as FLAC. The deal between Sonos and Deezer is beneficial to both companies, as it fills the high quality streaming void left left by Mog when it was purchased by Beats earlier this year. It also gives Deezer a solid name to tag onto in America. But ultimately, why is this a big deal? expand full story

Today, Sonos announced a key software update that many users have been waiting for: no longer is the Bridge accessory required for a wireless Sonos system. With software update 5.1, Sonos can now run on an existing wireless network taking the previously required Bridge or hardwired connection out of the equation. After unpacking a Sonos speaker, joining to your wireless network is handled via the iOS or Android app. While this certainly simplifies the setup of a Sonos system, the company still warns that a hardwired connection is the best bet for a reliable signal amongst your speakers. The wireless Bridge is still available for those that are interested in that option.

Rakuten via Altatac offers the Sonos PLAY:1 in black or white for $169.99 shipped. That’s $30 off the regular price. This price beats Amazon by $30, where over 1,800 users rate this product 4.5/5 stars and it is the best seller amongst bookshelf speakers.

The Sonos PLAY:1 features two class D tuned amplifiers, one 3.5″ mid-woofer and a tweeter. The humidity-resistant design allows for the speaker to be placed in a bathroom or outside on humid days. With access to a variety of music sources, such as Spotify, Pandora and Beats Music, the Play:1 is a solid option for building a whole home wireless music system. The PLAY:1 is currently their smallest speaker offering, and works well as rear speakers in addition to the Playbar also available from Sonos.

We favorably reviewed the Sonos PLAY:1 when it was released last year.

Amazon is running a promotion that packages a free Sonos wireless bridge with the purchase of any Sonos Play:1, Play:3, or Play:5 speaker systems. The bridge typically sells for $49 and very rarely goes on sale. Most notably, this promotion includes the brand new Play:1. This is Sonos’ most portable speaker that is perfect for extending your existing Sonos system or as an entry product into the Sonos universe. A free bridge represents a savings of 20% off the sticker price when combined with a Play:1. Only valid while supplies last. Deal is also available from Sonos directly.

The Sonos streaming speakers provide wireless access to your iTunes music library, Pandora, SiriusXM and other music services from your iPhone, iPad or other smart device. Critics hail the Sonos system for being incredibly easy to setup and pumping out huge room-filling sound. You can easily extend your system by simply adding more Sonos players throughout your listening space. Simply put, the Sonos Player is one of the best ways to add a great sounding internet streaming sound system to your home or work space. expand full story
