Sling TV will offer HBO plus on-demand content in time for Game of Thrones premiere

Update (4/8 9:00am): Sling has pushed the HBO update to its accounts, subscribers can sign-up today for the add-on package at a price of $15/month. Apple TV users have the option of grabbing a free 30-day trial of the recently released HBO Now, as well.

Sling TV is continuing to push traditional television providers, announcing today that it will carry HBO’s linear channel plus on-demand content before the Game of Thrones premiere on April 12th. HBO’s standard channel and an “extensive VOD library” will be a $15 add-on to Sling’s “best of live TV” $20 core package. No word yet on HBO Go accessibility on iOS or Apple TV. This follows last month’s launch of AMC just in time for Mad Men’s last run starting this Sunday.

Interested in Sling TV? You can grab a free Amazon Fire Stick or Roku Stick by signing up for three months of service. Xbox One members can enjoy a free month trial with a Live membership.

DISH is looking to revolutionize home entertainment by offering a smaller package of popular channels, without contract, for just $20 per month. Focusing on a handful of popular channels has allowed for DISH to put together a competitive product, dubbed Sling TV, that falls between the Netflix/Hulu and full cable TV price points. With ESPN, TNT and TBS, Sling TV is making a strong case for your living room.

There are however a few key differences from other offerings that make this an interesting proposition, including a special offer for Xbox One users.
